LVL (laminated veneer lumber) is a new construction material. LVL is produced of northern pine or spruce veneer. This softwood is known for its strength and stiffness. This is caused by its slow growth in severe climate conditions resulting in tight annual rings. Due to its strength, stiffness, and durability, LVL is used as structural or non-structural elements in buildings and bridges including floor, wall and roof structures.
LVL is available in the following sizes: thickness: from 18 up to 106 mm length: from 2.5 m to 24 m width from 40 up to 1250 mm
Two constructions are manufactured:
- Unidirectional
- Partly cross banded
Advantages of using:
- Extreme bending strength
- Long spams to cover
- Fire resistant material
- Good fitting holding strength
- Stable geometry in changed environment
