VLC supplies curved furniture parts as semi finished or as ready made products.

Product properties

Curved parts for chair manufacturing are made from Birch veneer. Depending on desired chair appearance, veneer grade may vary from C (upholstering quality) up to B (used for lacquering). Similar to the Plywood manufacturing process multiple plies of veneer are cross banded and glued together using interior type of glue with formaldehyde emission class E-1. Chair parts are molded using hot or high frequency press.
Curved parts can be made with straight trimming or shaped according to Customer’s drawings.

Prefabricated chair parts have straight trimmed edges. They are ready to be cut in the desired forms at your factory. The parts with the following dimensions are available:

Thickness - 10, 12 mm

Product properties

Bed slats are made by gluing together multiple plies of birch veneer using hot press and interior type of glue.  All plies have equal long grain direction. This type of construction provides very long lasting and hard spring features of bed slats.

Presently Thomes Canada offers bed slats with the following sizes:

Tolerance: Length: +/- 1 mm, Width: +/- 0.5 mm, Thickness: +/-0.5 mm

Sizes, radius and other features are subject to mill confirmation.

Veneer is selected as follows:

• Face veneer B-grade (small sound knots are acceptable with diameter up to 10 mm)
• Underface plies CP-grade
• Core plies C-grade
• Moisture content 6-10%

Finishing:

• Unfinished (sanded by sand paper, grit 180)
• Urea glue coated (appearance similar to lacquered)
